Positive Vibes

There are many sources of inspiration that we can draw from to get through everyday life and tough times too.  Poetry, inspirational quotes, motivational books, daily affirmations, prayers, music, art...all provide us with valuable advice and guidance in our lives.  Please use this area to post things that inspire you to maintain as much positive energy as it takes to get you through the day.

Here is one to start......

To grow, two things are essential. First, you must acknowledge that you need to grow and must fervently desire to do so. Second, you must know that through faith and trust, you can grow. After that, it is just a matter of hard work and perseverance. Atzmi Knowledge 2007

I have some inspirational quotes:

If you do not hope, you will not find what is beyond your hopes.

The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible.

"Experience is not what happens to you; it is what you do with what happens to you."

"When you feel like giving up, remember why you held on for so long in the first place."

Hi...this one is actually from a friend of mine. I live by this:

"It's not hopeless, and we're not helpless."

There were two muffins baking in the oven and one muffin said to the other muffin "man it's hot in here, and the other muffin said "HOLY CRAP! It's a talking muffin!!"

I know that joke is kinda dumb but I crack up every time I even think about it, and laughter is good for the soul, so go ahead, laugh at the dumb joke.

Here's another one:

Kurt Vonnegut

"Laughter and tears are both responses to frustration and exhaustion. I myself prefer to laugh, since there is less cleaning up to do afterward."

Here's one that I rather like:

"No one is useless in the world who lightens the burden of it for anyone else."

- Charles Dickens

And because I think that humour has a large part in happiness (at least it does with mine) here is a quote which make me smile:

"Never trust a man, who when left alone with a tea cosey... Doesn't try it on."

- Billy Connolly

My favorite quote, "Be the change you wish to see in the world."

No quotes but I laugh all the time.  My grandbabies keep me cracking up and my daughter is hilarious.  You can find humor in anything, and I think having lupus has made me appreciate that even more.

I find solace in the idea that we are to "follow (y)our bliss" - Joseph Campbell. And I also like "be a blessing, not a success." For me, giving up working was a really tough way to learn to adjust and look at myself differently. Without a job, career, and worldly success those things bring, I have to find a way to value myself despite those things. Knowing that I can live my life to my daily personal best while acting with and out of love to those around me gives me the opportunity to be a blessing. Mother Theresa said "God doesn't look at how much we do, but with how much love we do it." I found that quote on a rubber stamp a few months ago, and it soothed my spirit when I was holding myself captive to the pre-lupus ruler of to do lists, acomplishments, performance and output of activity. Sometimes we just have to learn to let go, and life is sweeter and smoother.

One of my favorites is "What others say about you is none of your business.  It has nothing to do with you"

One of my favorite is "..Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect. It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections."
