Alternative treatments??

posted 24 months ago by stina

I have been on plaquenil, lortab, methotrexate, folic acid, & gabbapentin for 3 going on 4 yrs now... I feel the treatment has made a slight difference since I have been diagnosed. I would like to know what you do for an alternative treatment? I am looking for a more natural treatment if possible.

I just started to change my diet & that seems to help somewhat with fatigue... What can I do for pain?

I notice a mostly vegetarian diet helps  (I say mostly because I get a strong hankering for meat from time to time.)  I also started seeing a doctor who's a specialist in Integrative Medicine.  (Check with your local university.  They are becoming more common as research gets better.)  Integrative M.D.'s help you decide what supplements, foods, and alternative methods you'd most benefit from.  They do everything from Chiropractic care to things like meditation and art therapy.  But they are also full M.D.'s, so they can prescribe medications and they don't encourage you to stop taking the meds that help you.  I'm not healed by any stretch of the imagination but I'm going on 3 years without hospitalization - which is a big deal for me.   Good luck!
