It's probably different in every country which meds you get. I'm from Sweden. I have been taking gammaglobulin and something that cancerpatients take (a loong time ago). None of the doctors here haven't really 100% said "you have lupus". Pretty much diagnose-less.But it is all leading to lupus according to me.

For me it's prednisone for bad flares and plaquenil as a long term medication.

I've been on 400 mg of Plaquenil of day since my diagnosis (Sept of 2001).  I also take Restasis prescription eye drops for my dry eye.  For flares, it is Medral pack (steroids)  Good luck to you!

Hi everyone! I'm on 400mg a day of plaquenil as well and I frequently am on predisone. I have severe mouth ulcers and the only thing that clears it up for the time being is the predisone. I know that they say the predisone is not safe, but what else can help? Very frustrating. Tried all kinds of mouth washes and creams. No help at all. I've never heard of Primolut! I can't believe how much many things are affected with lupus. My doctor doesn't seem to be concerned about me not having my monthly. I'm just told it is all part of the illness. I have been concerned because I haven't heard of anyone not having their monthly's before they are 40.  Has anyone been given an explanation on why your cycle gets affected????

I've been to several gynaecologists, but they all say it's something with the hormones...Nothing more than that! Wow what a great answer eh.I was very late mith my cycle (late teens) then it "took a break" for two years while traveling abroad, when it came back though I almost died of loosing half of my blood. It is so weird and really hard accepting this disease!

What is positive now with the pills (Primolut),Norethisteron) is that I know exactly when period begins. But as they say, having your period is like an evidence your body is doing ok.Prednisone might have a big effect too.

The word "hormones" always pop out at me...and I often wonder..no one seems to have an answer.  I started to be sick after a hysterectomy in December 96....was very sick with many things going on in my body and was diagnosed with SLE in 01...also fibromyalgia, colitis, osteoarthritis, frequent stomach ulcers and other things with digestive.    I often wonder if the "hormone" change from the hysterectomy could have in any way triggered the lupus....
