Have any of you tried the Natural approach for your condition?

Hello everyone,

I'm just curious to know the different forms of approaches that people have used. I've heard that Fish Oil/ Omega-3 are supposed to be very good towards people with Arthritis/Lupus because it helps with your Immune System and your joints. Unfortunately for me, ever since I was diagnosed with Lupus in 2005, I became allergic to seafood and Iodine...including shrimp, lobster, fish, shell fish and just anything containing Iodine/Fish oil. So sadly for me, I am unable to use those Natural supplements, but my mother and sister currently use it, and it is very helpful towards them. My doctor encourages me to use Omega-3 because she believes that there are some out there without Iodine, but I would just have to order them online and I wouldn't be able to get them at the stores..but because of my life-threatening experience with having a allergic reaction to Iodine (in the hospital) I am so scared to use the Omega-3.

     Hi  Gladys

I am also allergic to fish and iodine and I get my O-mega from ground flaxseed. I put it in my oatmeal. It doea have a flavor to it, that for me takes getting use to, but I find I do not notice the odd flavor if I put it in my oatmeal. I hope that helps.

I definitely won't deny that meds (especially prednisone) have saved my life more than once. However I do believe that my efforts in improving my diet and emotional health have done their part too.

I've modified my diet - vegan, gluten-free, omega-3's, at various times - but haven't really had the patience to stick with them long enough to notice ant improvement. I do keep trying though. The benefit is that it does help control my weight, which is important to me since I can't exercise.
