Are you affected by the seasons?

Poll Started March 23, 2009 by Kara Erickson

I know I have a particularly worse time in the transition from Summer to Winter. That's when I get swollen, painful joints, and exhaustion. In the short-term, I also feel sick when local weather changes suddenly, especially from warm weather to snow. Do you ever feel your body responding to weather changes?

I can't deal with the cold or humidity. When it's about to rain I can always tell because I get achy. We move around alot because my husband is in the military and there have been locations that I have done well at and others that I haven't. I look up the weather and climate reports for different locations in the U.S. to figure out where we're going retire to when he gets out. I definitely know it won't be in Wisconsin where we're from though, we go back for Christmas vacation sometimes and I always have problems when we do. Can someone point me in the direction of a dry, warm (but not too hot) place?

Not really. The only weather I have trouble with is hot and sunny. Obviously due to photosensitivity. And the Summer season practically dehydrates me. We had to install A/C just for my personal use. Luckily my bones only ache when it's very cold and here in southern California it's rarely very cold.

I feel bad during the winter months and when it is cold and rainy. I love the fall and summer, I don't seem to get as sick.

Yes, I'm incredibly affected by the cold and humidity.  It's actually a huge reason why I'll never move back to NY again.  The weather in LA gets super hot, but it's much easier to deal with than the weather back home.  I'm also super sensitive to the sun, but I'm learning how to work around that.  Lastly, I get really down in the dumps during the winter months. I'm not sure if it's SAD or what, but it's always been the case.

Living in Columbus, Ohio is a complete Lupus curse!  I love it here because I've grown up here and all my friends and family are here, but it is terrible for the disease.  The first year I was diagnosed I kept telling myself "It will get better in the fall when its dry..." Then it rained.  "It will be better in the Spring"  Rain.  "It'll be better in the summer."  Humidity.  I am very seriously considering moving to Arizona.  I just got engaged and I don't think my fiance would be up to it for many years, but I am really tired of struggling with my health.

Winter seems the hardest for me. The cold makes me hurt so bad. I don't want to leave the house.

Winter and Spring sucks for me....Winter because it is sooooooooooooo cold and my joints get weak and Fall because it rains and the moisture from that affects my joints and makes me weak. MOst climates affect me either way...if it's too hott and I am in the sun, I get the butterfly rashes, and I also start to feel dizzy from too much sun exposure.

Boy am I ever affected by the weather Here in sunny California the heat really gets to me and I feel really sick and tend to get more flares then. I do better in cold but not damp weather. I always know when it is going to rain since I was in sixth grade. I also do better on overcast days, I guess that I am dyslastic in that way too. My mood is much better on overcast days. Where is a spell checker when you nee done? lol.

The summer has always been the hardest season on me, more so now than ever. Use to love the winter months but no more I just seem to ache the whole winter season last year, My family use to pick on me because I always kept our house around 65* year round, now I can't handle the house being cooler than 72*.
