Sebaceous Cyst

The sebaceous cyst is one of the most common cyst and is almost always benign. My rhuma doctor said that it can be removed but most always comes back again. Its best to leave it alone unless it becomes painful. Well mine is on the back side of my left knee and it has become painful. With the holidays coming up and caring for 3 of my grandkids full time right now, not sure what would be best. Have any of you ever had this kind of a problem?

I recently developed a cyst for the first time ever in my life back in Jan. on my inner thigh.

I didn't realize at first what it was but within 3 days I knew I had to see my primary.  I had to wait 2 more days because it was the weekend.  By Monday morning I could barely walk from the pain of it and at this point I knew it was infected and that once again I'd be back on antibiotics.  The infection was spread over 6 inches with the worst section close to 2 inches in diameter.

The pain got worse before there was any sign of relief 3 days later from being on the AB.  The pain was a mind numbing 10+ at which point I was going cross eyed trying to keep what little sanity I had left dealing with this oh so fun disease.

I then saw the dermatologist the same week that my primary started me on AB and they proceded to cut and drain ...... if I thought the pain from walking with this cyst before the procedure was bad wow was I in for some more fun and games.

Because the cyst was infected the numbing process for the procedure made me sweat from every poor in my body !!!! and then some *L* the fact that I might get MORE of these is enough to warrant a sticker on my forehead that warns everyone to keep a safe distance if they value their life.

I finally caved into tears while changing the bandages because the pain was so excruciating.  I had to do this daily for a month.  By the last week the pain had eased up with the cleaning.

This might help others but wow I would to have loved to have known this the first week i had to bandage myself.  Use guaze that is NON STICK !!!!!!!!

I found that useful bit of knowledge from my brother who is a Medic overseas at the moment.. Luckily I was able to chat with him via FB and so he was able to pass that info on to me.

Another tip is that if like many of us your skin is paper thin and tears easily either from the disease and or the methyprednisolne USE tape that is skin sensitive
