JERKS

My Uncle is by far the biggest jerk I have ever met! While at a family dinner,  he looked at me and said "Lupus doesn't exist. It is all in your head. Go see a real doctor." I got upset and left and now everyone is angry at me for yelling at him and upsetting my Grandparents. How do you just sit there and take something like that?

    I went though something like that with people in my family.. no matter who it is they wont get it  ..the simpest way to answer a question like that is to hand them a something" about lupus"

    He's not a stupid person. His sister died from it 22 years ago and his other 2 sisters have it as well. He's just mean.

    Crystal, I have had people look at me and say, "you don't look sick so you must not be sick" and it ticks me off. My oldest daughter has Lupus Nephritis and looks very ill because she is extremely ill. When people look at her and then me, it makes it ten times harder to hear any zingers but I have learned to tune them out. If I didn't, I'd lose my mind and that isn't healthy physically, emotionally or mentally so I have made the choice daily (and it has to be made daily because life as a lupie is different everyday) to stay focused on the positive and not allow others to take away my power or me give it up to them. It is SOOOO hard, but I have to do it...for me. There will always be people who will say something to push your buttons. Stay strong!
